Easter Sunday at St Paul’s
Easter Sunday at St Pauls
5th April 2026
Intercessions for Easter Sunday
In the power of the Spirit and in union with Christ,
let us pray to the Father.
Risen Lord, on this day when the stone is rolled away and hope breaks open across the world, teach us again that all our doings without love are nothing worth. Shape our hearts to build what truly lasts — the things done for one another in your name.
Almighty God, our heavenly Father,
you promised through your Son Jesus Christ to hear us when we pray in faith.
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
The Church
We welcome our new Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullaly. May her office be fruitful and positive as she leads your church in this modern era.
Strengthen our bishops Alistair and Christopher, and your whole Church in the service of Christ.
May all who confess your name be united in your truth, live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world.
On this Easter morning, renew your Church with resurrection courage — that we may be bearers of peace where there is conflict, and bearers of light where there is fear.
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
The World
Risen Christ, you stepped into a world marked by violence and division, and you spoke peace.
Join me in this special prayer for the Middle East:
✨ Prayer for the Middle East
O God of mercy and truth,
You see the turmoil that has swept across the lands of Iran, Israel, and their neighbours.
You hear the cries of families torn by war, the fear of those under bombardment,
and the weariness of leaders burdened by decisions that shape nations.
We pray for the innocent —
for children who wake to sirens instead of songs,
for parents who long for safety more than sleep,
for communities whose livelihoods and economies tremble under the weight of conflict.
Let compassion rise higher than vengeance, and wisdom outshine pride.
We pray for the wounded nations —
that the people of Iran and Israel may find healing beyond politics,
that their economies may recover through cooperation rather than conquest,
and that those who plan invasions may instead plan reconciliation.
We pray for the world —
that global powers may act with restraint and justice,
that diplomats may speak with courage and humility,
and that faith communities everywhere may stand as bridges, not barriers.
Lord of resurrection,
turn hearts from destruction to renewal.
Let peace be born again in the deserts and cities of the Middle East,
and let hope rise where despair has taken root.
In Your name we seek the dawn of understanding —
not victory, but peace everlasting.
Amen.
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
We give thanks for the gifts of human curiosity and creativity, seen this week in NASA’s renewed mission toward the moon.
As astronauts and engineers push the boundaries of exploration, may their work inspire cooperation among nations and remind us of the wonder of your creation.
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
Our Community
Give grace to us, our families and friends, and to all our neighbours,
that we may serve Christ in one another and love as he loves us.
On this Easter Day, renew our hope, deepen our compassion, and help us to be signs of resurrection life in our homes, workplaces, and communities.
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer.
