Return to Worth Abbey

St Paul’s Church members revisited the Worth Abbey monastery in Crowley, Sussex. We spend a delighted pilgrimage and retreat in in the countryside and where fortunate to bring the good weather with us for our second visit. We spent the time in restful contemplation and prayer. Together with a five mile trek in the countryside visiting sites like the Balcombe Viaduct and reservoir.

Most enjoyable was the time we spent in the Worth Abbey Quiet Garden. A truly magical place o extraordinary beauty and complexity wen the sun comes up in the spring. Our host Father Peter tells us of their effort to restore it to its present beauty from the 1970s and its officially recognised as a major Quiet Garden.

The monks pray five times a day with songs of devotion and worship of the Lord. Our visit coincided with the Feast of Ascension which we will celebrate in our up coming our Sunday service.
